Pursuits that keep me curious.

I started playing violin in first grade, and it became a lifelong pursuit. I studied at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where each student devoted three hours a day to our art. I loved walking the halls, hearing the cacophony coming from the music wing, walking past dancers mid-rehearsal in the halls, and stumbling into the "happenings" — student performances during lunch — that made the place feel alive in every direction. It gave me a deep appreciation for the creativity and discipline that go into making something valuable.

I still play. These days I perform with SF Civic Music, and I've picked up guitar and piano along the way. My taste runs from the Beatles to Beethoven — and Prokofiev, my slightly non-consensus favorite, for the moments when I want something with a sharper edge. I also love hosting Beatles parties, and occasionally subjecting my friends to unsolicited lessons on how sonata form works within a symphony.
